Our Story
Well, my story...
I grew up foraging with my father and grandfather every spring for morels. I have always been fascinated by the numerous species of mushrooms and how they grow. A switch went off with my first hobby grow of Shittake years later in 2003. I wanted to know more and dove into research. However, decided instead of pursuing a career as a mycologist, my second choice of a chef was more suitable. After culinary school and cooking professionally for a good few years, it was time to switch things up. Life took me in a different direction and an old passion eventually came back after taking a basic cultivation class.
The mushroom world isn't always an open book. The knowledge is out there, but you have to find it and take it upon yourself to apply it. Often times I say mushroom growing is like Alice falling down the rabbit hole, it's really as far as you want to go. It's an endless abyss of information, but with much more to discover.
The future of The Spore Store will adapt as society learns what mushrooms have to offer. My goal is to supply chefs with mushrooms I could never find myself, teach others about fungi and their amazing abilities to enhance our lives, and push forward with new techniques and technology in the mushroom-growing world. It's constantly adapting, and it's important to adapt with it. Thank you for being a part of my adventure!
Delivery & Returns
Pickup is available, and delivery can be arranged based on order and location. Shipping is also available and based off product shipped and location (tax may apply). No fresh mushroom shipments. No returns, but satisfaction is priority. Will work with you to ensure your satisfaction with the product purchased and to sort out any issues.
